Running Tip of the Month!

Beat the heat!

Allow about two weeks to acclimate to the heat.  Once acclimated, make sure to take fluids along with you on any run over 90 minutes.  Make sure you take in enough sodium along the way.

The First Annual Constitution 5K Run/Walk, organized by the Montpelier Foundation,  will take place on September 12th, 2010, and will benefit the Archaeology Department at Montpelier. The 5K Run/Walk will kick off the National Constitution Day Celebration.

Course: The course will  traverse the historic grounds of James and Dolley's Madison home. Participants will enter through the main entrance and park in the center field of the Montpelier Hunt Races Steeplechase Track, which has a commanding view of the mansion. Runners will cross portions of the steeplechase track and pass thought the stable areas, giving them an opportunity to enjoy some of Montpelier's rural beauty and rarely seen areas, including the Constitutional Village. In general, the course is mostly flat with some rolling sections in the countryside.

 

Times: Constitution 5K Run- 8am

Dolley Dash 1K- 9am

1 mile Dogathon- 9:30am

 

Packet pickup:

Saturday, September 11th, from 12 noon until 5pm at Charlottesville Running Company

Sunday, September 12th, from 7am until 7:45 at Montpelier
