They believe their running philosophy, which includes the benefits of rest and targeted workouts, can help others reach their goals or have a more enjoyable running experience. Client Testimonials: Bedford Boyce, North Carolina
“Gill's coaching has helped me immensely since I started running ultra marathons. His advice has helped guide me through the physical and mental aspects of ultra distance competition and as a result I am now a much "smarter" runner. Anyone can cobble together an ad hoc training plan focusing on miles, miles and more miles. However, Gill takes a more holistic approach that focuses on "quality" miles not just quantity. In addition, his program for me has covered everything from speed and conditioning to nutrition and aid station/drop bag strategy. Lastly, he has been instrumental in getting me to realize when to train hard and when to take time off and "rest hard". Following this advice has led to dramatic improvements in both my physical fitness and confidence as well as keeping me injury free.”
Neal Gorman, DC "Having only run one actual marathon, one 50 mile trail ultra and with less than two and a half months to train I asked Gill the impossible: train me for a 100 mile ultra. A few candid and information phone and email conversations later I was on the trails, in the gym and on my way training for my first 100 mile ultra. Gill offered many tips, tools and resources that helped tremendously in my training and made me a stronger and more confident runner. I lost weight, built running economy, learned more about nutrition and hydration, heart rate training, race strategy, etc., etc. Long story short, I finished the race in fourth place and earned a silver buckle! I couldn’t have done it without Gill. Thanks!"

“I’ve run ok on my own for a number of years but wanted to improve my performance and be in the best shape I could for a 100 mile race this summer so I signed on with Gill. With his guidance on nutrition and training schedules I’ve already seen great results. I’m sure his coaching was the reason I pr’d in the Bull Run 50 mile race this spring. The program Gill’s developed for me not only made me a stronger runner overall but also gives me confidence to complete races and run strong mentally which is just as important as the physical. Thanks Gill!”

I am very fortunate to be working with Gill and Bad to the Bone Endurance. After a 15+ year “break”, I returned to running two years ago. I quickly set fairly high goals. Even before running my first marathon I knew I wanted to run ultras. The problem was I did not have the experience to develop a training program for myself. I trained for and completed my first marathon in December prior to working with Gill. While I was excited to finish in under four hours, I knew I could do better. I then started working with Gill. Within a month of working with Gill I ran a personal record in the half-marathon by cutting 17 minutes off my previous best! Two months later I finished my first ultra with a 10th place finish in the Ouachita Trail 50K. Every phase of my running has improved, including my preparation, training, nutrition, and racing. Gill takes the time to learn about you and your goals. He then develops a plan for you based on your past experience, current goals, and current ability. I have improved my running dramatically and made a friend at the same time. Tough to argue with that.

Gill’s coaching has really offered a way for me to run injury free and faster. It has helped to customize a running program to my interests and around my time limitations. Having a coach was something I did not think I could justify, but it has turned out to be some of the best money I have spent in my fitness regime. Gill's coaching has allowed me to achieve goals that I could not reach by self coaching.
