Running Tip of the Month!

Beat the heat!

Allow about two weeks to acclimate to the heat.  Once acclimated, make sure to take fluids along with you on any run over 90 minutes.  Make sure you take in enough sodium along the way.

DIRECTIONS:

* From the North: Take US-29 South. US-29 South becomes US-29 BR S/N Emmet Street. Turn Left onto Barracks Road. Stay straight along Preston Avenue.  After Ridge/McIntire Rd, Preston Ave will become Market Street (also called W. Market Street). The Start/Finish is located on the historic downtown mall near Charlottesville Running Company, 110 Old Preston Avenue.  Note:  Porta Johns will be located at the Start/Finish area.  Parking is available in the downtown area and parking decks.


* From the South: Take US-29 North. US-29 North becomes 29N/250 Bypass. Take the exit for Barracks Road. Turn Right onto Barracks Road. Stay straight along Preston Avenue.  After Ridge/McIntire Rd, Preston Ave will become Market Street (also called W. Market Street).  The Start/Finish is located on the historic downtown mall near Charlottesville Running Company, 110 Old Preston Avenue.  Note:  Porta Johns will be located at the Start/Finish area.  Parking is available in the downtown area and parking decks.


* From the West: Take I-64 E towards Charlottesville. Take Exit 118, 29N/250 Bypass towards "Washington". Take the exit for Barracks Road. Turn Right onto Barracks Road. Stay straight to go onto Preston Avenue. Stay straight along Preston Avenue.  After Ridge/McIntire Rd, Preston Ave will become Market Street (also called W. Market Street). * From the East: Take I-64 W towards Charlottesville. Take Exit #124 to US-250 West. Turn Right onto US-250 West. Stay straight to McIntire Rd. Take a left onto McIntire Rd.  Stay left onto Ridge/McIntireRd. Take a left onto Market Street (also called W. Market Street).  The Start/Finish is located on the historic downtown mall near Charlottesville Running Company, 110 Old Preston Avenue.  Note:  Porta Johns will be located at the Start/Finish area.  Parking is available in the downtown area and parking decks.
