DEVIL'S KNOB 20K AND 10K June, 2010
GREAT EASTERN ENDURANCE RUN 100K, 50K, HALF MARATHON, 8K TRAIL RACE AND 8K CANINE RUN/WALK
September 27, 2010 Start Time 6:00 AM for the 100K and 50K, 7:00 AM for the Half Marathon Location: Blue Ridge Mountains, George Washington National Forest Charlottesville, Virginia. Course Description: The Great Eastern Endurance Run was born out of the love and passions of the race directors, Russell Gill and Francesca Conte, for the Blue Ridge Mountains. Not many people have had the luck to experience all that these mountains can offer, from the velvety feel of the summer slopes, to the kaleidoscopic array of autumn colors, to the dazzling beauty of the winter snow. Not many places in the world can offer the quaintness and history of nearby Charlottesville, located just 20 miles away, coupled with the freedom of miles and miles of mountain trails. The race begins at the Southern end of the Shenandoah National Park, where the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Skyline Drive meet. It then covers 100 kilometers of the best terrain in this area, from a short section on the Blue Ridge Parkway, to Sherando Lake, to trails peppered with waterfalls and mountain laurels. Both races begin at 6am at Rockfish Gap, at the junction between Hwy 64 and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The participants must complete the 100K course in 18 hours, 30 minutes. PACK IT OUT HALF MARATHON TRAIL RACE AND CANINE 5K RUN/WALK November 14, 2009 Start Time: 8:00 AM Running Race, 8:15 AM Canine Run/Walk Location: Walnut Creek Park, Charlottesville, Virginia. Packet Pickup will be on race morning, starting at 7:15 am. Please park only in designated areas. Course Description: Located just 10 minutes from Charlottesville, Walnut Creek Park is a local trail runners' paradise. In addition to the extensive network of trails, the lake offers plenty of swimming and fishing. The trails snake around the lake and feature several old home sites from the early 1900s now abandoned. The Walnut Creek Park trails have the feel of a fast roller coaster, where every uphill is never too long and is always followed by a fast downhill. The course is all on single track trails with a few small creek crossings. The views of the lake are poetic in the fall, but make sure you keep your eyes on the roots and rocks! The 10 miler comprises of a small and larger loop, all on single track with a few hundred yards of pavement at the finish. The Half Marathon follows the 10 miler course with an additional smaller loop. This trail truly rocks, and we guarantee you will have a blast!
